Spider-Man: Homecoming - 10 Major Ways Spidey Will Be Different
7. No MJ Or Gwen
In Previous Films
In Raimi's trilogy, traditional Spidey love interest MJ was a key part of all three plots, following her importance in the comics: Gwen Stacy was belatedly introduced as an alternate love interest too, but it wasn't really explored as anything other than Peter's attempt to make MJ jealous.
Marc Webb's films pushed Peter's romance with Stacy far further, restoring her as his first love and then killing her off in a remake of the Night Gwen Stacy Died comics arc.
In Homecoming
It would appear that Peter's love interest will instead be Liz Allan - as she has been in the comics in the past (though more famously, their romance has been unrequited).
There's still a significant suggestion that Zandaya's Michelle is actually MJ in disguise, but that would almost be a shame now. If she is, she's been completely reimagined as a bookish student, rather than the popular, actress girl-next-door type.
