7. Spider-Man Fights Iron Man

The Rumour: As Peter is so desperate to join The Avengers, Tony Stark offers him a compromise: as a final audition for the superhero supergroup, Spider-Man will need to fight Iron Man himself.

The Truth: This rumour goes back more than a year, so it shouldn't be that surprising that it turned out to be total bunk. For starters, does Iron Man really want to beat the snot out of a 15-year-old kid? It's a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

The movie got their relationship just right: Tony wants to be encouraging but is also a little icy as far as the surrogate father potential goes, before getting super p***ed at him, and finally welcoming him back with loving arms at the end of the movie.

An actual fight between the two, even as a training exercise, would've felt pretty out of place and, moreover, just unnecessary.
