Spider-Man: Homecoming Vs Spider-Man 2 - Which Is Better?
8. Fun Factor
Sam Raimi probably couldn't make a movie that wasn't at least a little bit fun even if his life depended on it, and while Spidey 2 certainly has an array of dead-serious moments, it smartly doesn't allow them to overwhelm the thrilling, giddily enjoyable spectacle of the iconic superhero saving the day.
Homecoming, with the aforementioned John Hughes inspiration, is easily the funniest Spider-Man film to date, with a laser-trained focus on hilarious one-liners and amusing visual gags that lean into young Peter's inherent awkwardness.
Winner: They're both immensely fun films, but Homecoming takes this one, because it clings to every laugh it can wring out of the script, and in sacrificing a good deal of its emotional potential, at least delivers a breezy, lightly enjoyable superhero romp.
Raimi's film was more earnest and goofy, but Homecoming's punk rock tone has a decidedly more infectious charm to it.
