Spider-Man: No Way Home - 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered
8. What Is Venom's Future In The MCU?
As amusing as Eddie Brock/Venom's (Tom Hardy) mid-credits cameo was, it basically invited more questions than answers.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage's mid-credits scene saw Eddie be transported into the MCU, and No Way Home picks this thread up by showing him getting drunk at a bar and talking to the bartender about some of the MCU's finest heroes and villains.
Eventually, though, Eddie is seemingly flung back to his original universe once Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) final corrective spell is completed.
However in a final beat, we see that a piece of the symbiote has stayed behind in the MCU.
It's an intriguing yet ultimately fairly confusing scene, at once suggesting that Eddie has been kicked back out of the MCU and that the symbiote has been left to wreak havoc should a fourth Tom Holland-starring Spider-Man movie happen.
Given the prior rumours that Sony and Marvel Studios were trying to reach an agreement on a film starring both Spidey and Venom, it'd be crushingly disappointing if Eddie's time in the MCU was over for good, and any chance of Holland and Hardy sharing the screen has been dashed.
Considering the rather delicate relationship between Sony and Marvel Studios, it might be fair to assume that even they don't yet know what will become of Venom in the MCU, but blasting Eddie back to his own universe covered their hides for the time being.
