7. Mysterio - Spider-Man 4

As has been infamously revealed since The Amazing Spider-Man movies crashed and burned (and since the announcement that Mysterio is headed to the MCU), Sam Raimi initially had a fourth Spider-Man movie in the works for a while.

His plan was to include a couple of fan favourite villains, with the idea that Bruce Campbell would play Mysterio, who would end up arrested by Spider-Man in one sequence. By the look of the concept art, he was clearly designed to be no more than a figure of fun.

It's a shame that we didn't get to see Campbell's take on the villain, even if it might have reduced him to a bit of a punchline.
