Star Trek: 10 Best 'I'm Dead And I Know It' Moments

4. Soran - Star Trek: Generations

Malcolm McDowell may not have thought very much of the script to Star Trek: Generations, but that didn't stop him from delivering one hell of a performance as the mad scientist, Dr. Tolian Soran.

He, like Whoopi Goldberg's Guinan, experienced the joy of the Nexus, though unlike her, he has become so driven to return that he will sacrifice anything to make that happen.

His final plan includes detonating the Veridian star, altering the gravitational structure of the system and drawing the ribbon to him. This will doom the inhabitants of Veridian IV, as their planet will be destroyed by the ensuing shockwave.

The only way to stop him is to destroy his missile before he can fire it. Though Picard fails the first time around, a quick hop and a jump through the Nexus allows him to try again. This leads to the moment where Soran stands on his launcher. The man had previously spoken to Picard about a place where time has no meaning, and death has no teeth.

In that exact second, Soran realizes that both of those facts have just become moot. His face registers the fear and shock in an instant, with McDowell knocking it out of the park.
