3. Prime Directive Incompetence

Don't think for a second I was going to let the alternate time-line Captain Kirk off the hook. After all, in the short time we've known him he's proven to be even more brash and illogical in some of his decision making than the prime universe version of himself. Take for example the series of events at the beginning of Star Trek: Into Darkness on the planet of Nibiru. Let's face it, Kirk more than screwed the pooch here in regards to what was at stake with the planet's inhabitants facing certain doom. Not only did Kirk order the Enterprise down to the planet, risking being spotted by the locals, he also risked the lives of several of his bridge crew, namely Spock. Not only that, as he and Dr. McCoy ran for their lives while being chased down by the local residents, Kirk prematurely up and shoots their damn ride, as McCoy exclaimed in frustration. Overall, not one of Kirk's finer moments to say the least. Once the dust settled, Admiral Pike went onto lambaste Kirk for his actions in directly violating the prime-directive within this mission, pointing out how incredibly stupid is was to risk the life of his very important first-officer in the process of saving this doomed planet, by having him dropped into a volcano that was about to blow. Add to it the fact even though everyone came out alive, the Enterprise was more than exposed to the race of people Kirk and co. never should have saved to begin with. Overall, Kirk garnered a big fat F from his superior here and was dressed down in Pike's office in a way we've never seen this great Captain humbled before. It was an ass-chewing for the ages. No doubt this was yet another highly questionable set of actions from the great James T. Kirk.
