Star Wars: 10 Awesome Announcements They Need To Make At Comic-Con

4. More Rogue One Details

Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One is set to be released on 16 December 2016, and will be the first of the newly-dubbed spin-off films. According to the brief synopsis revealed, Rogue One will centre around €œa band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans.€ It€™ll take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, directly tying into the events of the latter. Godzilla director Gareth Edwards is on board to direct, from a script written by Chris Weitz (redrafting from Gary Whitta€™s initial work on it), while Felicity Jones is confirmed to star along with Sam Claflin, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn. Edwards did reveal some very early footage at the Celebration event in April, but now that he has most of his cast in place he should be able to show a bit more of a teaser, along with some further casting announcements (Forest Whitaker has been rumoured for a while now) and more concrete plot details.
