Star Wars: 10 Things You Never Knew About General Grievous

3. Fraught Relationship With The Droid Army

Despite his power and reputation as an unstoppable Jedi hunter, General Grievous had a few fatal flaws which troubled him throughout the Clone Wars.

For one thing, in the Legends continuity, he was deeply ashamed of his cybernetics, thinking himself as nothing more than an imperfect machine. When Dooku named him Commander of the Droid Army, he took it as an insult, and was often self-conscious about his looks, his nasty cough, and the fact that he was more machine than man.

In the canon, his biggest issue (and it's an ironic one considering his role) was that he hated droids. Other than the MagnaGuards that rarely left his side, he thought that all droids were stupid and useless, and their lack of humanity made them weak and ineffective. This put him at odds with Dooku a couple of times, since the Count was very proud of his droids.

Even with this issue of droid prejudice, though, Grievous knew how to lead his army, and did so better than any other Separatist leader.
