15. How Big Is The Time Jump?

Although not explicitly confirmed, it's been heavily suggested that Episode IX will feature a decent time jump from the end of The Last Jedi - partially thanks to John Boyega growing his hair out, along with lots of other rumours too.

It's a move that makes sense, given the poor state the Resistance was in and the fact that, VIII aside, Star Wars episodes always have at least a year between them, but just how big will it be?

Some alleged leaks have alleged as big a jump as five years, although given how the scale of the conflict seems smaller in this one compared to previous trilogies that might be too big, and miss out on too much of the development of Rey and Kylo Ren.

It does seem likely there'll be at least a year gap, especially since the comics have already started continuing the story post-The Last Jedi anyway, but it's hard at this point to see it being more than around three years.
