5. Will It Tie To The Current Trilogy?
Why tell us the story of the Death Star plans now? Is this just a nice little distraction to entertain us between the major Episode movies, or is this story actually somehow relevant to the current main trilogy? Some fans firmly believe the latter option, and reckon that Rogue One will surprise the masses by connecting itself to The Force Awakens The Knights Of Ren those black-clad baddies that Rey glimpsed in her vision sequence are the key. Audiences only saw these Dark Side fanatics for a few seconds, but that was long enough to pique the interest of fan theorists. Could this darkly-dressed clan be the future versions of the core Rogue One cast? And why would that happen? Perhaps, either during Rogue One or sometime afterwards, the main gang of characters are corrupted by the Dark Side. Maybe Darth Vader himself manages to turn them, setting up a secret evil legacy that will ultimately outlive him and inspire Kylo Ren. Another theory that seeks to connect Rogue One and The Force Awakens posits that fans have suggested that Felicity Jones character could be the mother of Rey. That seems a bit farfetched to me, but, at this stage, any rumour could turn out to be true. Only time will tell.
