Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 10 Concerns Raised By The Full Trailer
1. The Main Characters Are Still Not Together
What makes Episode IV: A New Hope, above all, such an enjoyable and relentlessly entertaining entry in the entire Star Wars canon?
The answer is the fact that the main characters get to spend the entire middle section of the movie together. It's what makes it so fun to sit through, time and time again, because you've got Luke, Leia, Han, Obi-Wan, Chewbacca and the droids rubbing shoulders, playing off against one another.
The Force Awakens put Rey, Finn, and Han together for certain sections of the film, but Poe went AWOL until the last reel. And now the new trailer for Episode VIII seems to suggest yet another movie in which our main trio are going to spend lots of the movie apart from each other - on different planets entirely, even.
Thing is, these guys haven't been given any proper team-up screen time; they absolutely need a full-blown adventure in each other's company in order to cement their bond. As such, they feel tenuously linked, and the trailer does nothing to ease any concerns about them being scattered across the galaxy.
We desperately need a Rey, Finn, and Poe adventure, and from this new footage it really doesn't look like that's going to happen in Episode VIII. For shame.
