Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8 Big Questions We Have After The Trailer

7. Will We See Kylo Ren Fight Luke In A Flashback?

We saw this shot in the initial teaser trailer, an image of what seems to be Luke witnessing the destruction of his Jedi Academy.

Obviously, this is a flashback to the event that both forces Luke into hiding and fully sends Kylo Ren down the path of the dark side, the young Force-user being the one who destroys the academy after falling under the influence of Snoke.

So how extensive will this flashback be? Will we see Luke training Kylo, will we see Kylo killing all the other Jedi trainees, and will we see a fight between Luke and his troubled nephew?

Luke probably won’t want to slaughter Kylo, regardless of his crime, but surely Luke must be nearby when his own academy is being destroyed - and if he is nearby, wouldn’t Kylo lash out at him too?

This would be an incredibly emotionally-charged confrontation, and by fleshing out this flashback, we’d truly, deeply understand why Luke couldn’t face the world anymore, and by witnessing the same horrors he witnessed, we’d know why he just had to retreat into solitude on Ahch-To.
