Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Every Reveal From EW's Cover Story
5. Rey's Fall
While people have spent years wondering whether Luke Skywalker might've fallen to the Dark Side, the official trailer for The Last Jedi changed the question: will Rey, not Luke, fall to the Dark Side? We saw her being tortured by Snoke, and it was very much edited to pair her with Kylo Ren.
It'd be a big twist to see the galaxy's newest hero and potential Jedi turn evil, but as she says in the trailer, all she wants is someone to show her her place in all this. And that someone could well be Snoke and/or Kylo. Daisy Ridley told EW:
"She doesn’t really know what she wants. She really is trying to do the right thing and morally, her compass is really pointing north. The Resistance is really not that much to her. I mean, she’s been left her whole life, and very quickly is eager to sort of help other people, which is wonderful. She wants to be part of something. I mean, everyone wants to be part of something.”
That's similar to Kylo Ren's own story, and how he came to be swayed to the Dark Side, so the stage is perhaps being set for it to happen to Rey as well (if the film ends with notions of Light and Dark still intact, anyway).
