8. The Emotion

Perhaps because of the tragic background story of Carrie Fisher's death after filming was completed, there's a very profound sense of sadness about what looks to be her "meeting" with Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi.

The way the trailer is cut, it seems the erstwhile Solo boy will try to follow up the death of his father by killing his mother too to strike a deep cut to the Resistance and leave his past behind him. And even in just a few loaded shots of her seemingly struggling with her son's life choices and him faltering over his mission to kill her, you get a sense of how devastating that thread is going to be to unpick.

And don't act like Kylo's mention of leaving the past behind doesn't impact you doubly thanks to Fisher's death. Because that's some prime emotional manipulation, right there.
