After departing in The Last Jedi, Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker makes his next Star Wars appearance in The Rise of Skywalker, presumably as a Force Ghost. Just as old Ben Kenobi and Yoda were there for him when he was on the path to becoming a Jedi, so too will he be there for Rey as her journey comes to a close. Emotional much?

In his brief narration, Luke says that "confronting fear" is the destiny of a Jedi, and given how pretty much every Jedi in the Skywalker Saga has reckoned with that emotion time and again, it's a salient point to make.

This does raise a question though: will Rey embark on her own path away from the Jedi, or is this an indication that the Order will live on through her? The implication in The Last Jedi was that there was more to the Force than just the Sith and their old rivals, so it'll be interesting to see if Episode IX dares revive the Order.
