Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Final Trailer Review - 8 Ups & 5 Downs

3. There May Be A HUGE Spoiler In There

For all the praise levelled at this trailer - hell, even within this very reactions piece - for its commitment to not spoiling too much, the decision to include the shot of Kylo Ren and Rey both destroying a certain SOMETHING together simultaneously is a spoiler too far.

It's a very brief moment and while it could be suggested that it's a dream sequence or some sort of vision (it's not, because Rey's lightsaber is the right colour, which is a key definition), all this does is achieve something that is unhelpful.

With Kylo's allegiance already explored way too much and clearly once again up for discussion in this film - because the idea of the draw of both the Dark and Light sides is as important to this narrative tapestry as lightsabers, starships and the Force itself - even the slightest hint that it's going to be a major plot point is needless. Particularly when this shot might even give away the fact that he is redeemed for at least some of the time.

It's a senseless inclusion that has no merit in the trailer other than a negative impact and it's entirely misguided.
