Statham talks SUB-MARINER & THE CROW!

Out promoting his new movie THE BANK JOB, Jason Statham has revealed to IESB that at one time he had interest in not only playing the lead character in Marvel's SUB-MARINER picture but that he also has a fancy for starring in a remake of THE CROW.

First up there's SUB-MARINER, a movie we haven't spoken about since September 14th 2006 when TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES director Jonathan Mostow was hired to re-write and direct an adaptation of the early Marvel character as the studio looked to expand their universe on the big screen...
I took a meeting for Sub-Mariner. I don€™t know if I€™d look right running around in a tight speedo with wings on my ankles but there€™s so many cool fucking characters.
The meeting with Statham and Mostow's interest in the actor is pretty typical of the kind of star you would expect action director Mostow to go for. Statham certainly has the build and the intensity for the part and has built himself a nice fanbase who would flock to see him in this type of thing. But of course, it's been nearly 18 months since Mostow was hired, this meeting could have taken place in 2006 when Marvel seemed keen on the project. Statham also reveals he would be interesting in starring in a remake of THE CROW which he has heard in is development...
You know, there€™s talk of them redoing The Crow. That was a good movie with Brandon Lee, although that was years ago. So if that one comes my way, bang! You know, there€™s so many comic book movies out there and most of the time there€™s only a handful of people who can do them any justice. Hopefully, they€™ll come my way for one of them.
That's a project I think all of us would be less interested in and is a franchise that should have been put to the sword years ago. Statham as Eric Draven? No, don't think so.
