Sylvester Stallone's 15 Biggest Movies - Ranked Worst To Best
7. Rambo III (1988)
So great was the impact of the first sequel, it renamed the franchise. Yes, technically this 1988 action epic should be entitled First Blood Part III, but such trivialities were no longer of much concern in a series which was now dedicated to seeing its leading man beefed up to superhuman levels, single-handedly taking down communism across the globe. They'd come a long way from the original First Blood's more sober treatment of a traumatised Vietnam veteran's inability to reintegrate to everyday life. All things considered, Rambo III is clearly the weakest of the series, but it's still a lot of fun to watch in all its mind-blowing excess and absurdity. Really, how can you not get a smile out of seeing Stallone and Richard Crenna face off against what looks to be pretty much the entire Soviet Army, all by themselves? Rambo III also stands to demonstrate that, once upon a time. studios were not afraid of throwing blockbuster budgets at R-rated material: with a price tag of $63 million, it was one of the most expensive films ever made at the time. And they certainly got their money's worth, as Rambo III earned $189 million worldwide, making it Stallone's 8th biggest hit.
