Sylvester Stallone's 15 Biggest Movies - Ranked Worst To Best
8. The Expendables 2 (2012)
It's not really saying much to declare this the best film of the Expendables trilogy. But as it brings even more famous faces to the mix than the first film (notably with Jean-Claude Van Damme as the bad guy), and gets Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis fighting side-by-side for the first time, it's a dour soul indeed who takes no pleasure at all from The Expendables 2. Infamously, the sequel came close to being released in a watered-down PG-13 version, but when the online reaction to that idea was universally negative, Stallone took note. Unfortunately, this desire to please the fans also pushes The Expendables 2 a little too far into self-reference/self-parody at times: witness Chuck Norris telling a Chuck Norris fact, and Arnie and Bruce swapping catchphrases. Critics might not have been enamoured, but the fans showed up in droves, taking The Expendables 2 to a global box office take of $305.4 million: officially the number one biggest money maker of Stallone's career thus far.
