For a supreme character so adored by both sides that both Skynet and his own would-be father blatantly have thinly repressed crushes on him (why else wouldn't Skynet just kill him?), Connor is something of an idiot.

When he re-appears in 2017 to "rescue" Kyle and Sarah from hospital he accidentally calls Kyle "Dad" in a really awkward way (considering they've grown together as bros and probably traded guy talk). It just slips out, after probably a decade of the pair living in each other's pockets, making moonshine, staring furtively across camp fires, as if it's always been on the tip of his tongue to say it. Hokey is not the word.

Now, the real reason that this is stupid is all about context: if Connor had used the father revelation as a means to disarm and emotionally torture his parents, it would have been a great nod to his insanity. But then he seems genuinely annoyed that Kyle doesn't know, and then quickly attempts to get both of them to join him as super-mega Terminators (to what end is unclear, but he does love them, apparently). So he literally just pulled his own Ultron Forgetting What Children Are Moment.
