3. It Will Directly Tie In To The Batgirl Movie
In recent years, Warner Bros. and DC have seen far too many movies get stuck in developmental hell, or get shut down before they can even reach such a place. Cyborg was supposed to get his own movie, Man of Steel 2 may never be made, and The Flash has been moved about so much to the point that no one truly believes it will ever actually be released.
Another movie that has suffered is Batgirl, originally set to be directed by Joss Whedon before he left the project. However, The Batman will reportedly be the spark that will finally bring this movie into life.
Though Barbara Gordon is unlikely to have a large role in Reeves' 2021 outing, with the character list already growing to ridiculous lengths, even something as little as a nod to a future role would be enough for fans. (Think the Joker card at the end of Batman Begins.)
Building something of a Bat Family around the Caped Crusader would set The Batman apart from previous movies, and Batgirl would be one of the first to be brought in.
Though there is no official word on casting for the role as of yet, Guardians of the Galaxy's Karen Gillan has expressed her interest in such a role, and it's hard to think of anyone better suited.
