The Batman: 10 Huge Rumours That Would Change Everything

2. Matt Reeves Wants An R Rating

The comic book movie genre has changed drastically over the last few years in a lot of different ways. While the family friendly aspect is still the norm, more and more studios are looking towards their R-Rated options. After Deadpool and Logan saw incredible success, DC pitched in with Joker and created the highest grossing R-Rated movie of all time.

If such a rating would make sense for any comic book character, Batman would be very high on the list, thanks to the dark, often gruesome stories the Caped Crusader has seen throughout history.

Reportedly, Matt Reeves is pushing for The Batman to receive an R-Rating, and while this would potentially limit the marketability options of families and young children, it would allow for a far greater exploration of the darker tone of the comics, particularly The Long Halloween, if Reeves does in fact take inspiration from the arc.

With the movie looking to focus more on Batman's detective style rather than his combat skills, this may be Matt Reeves' way of making sure the action pieces that are included are as dark, as brutal, and a memorable as possible. Here's hoping WB realise the potential of such a Batman movie, and leave the director to bring his full vision to life.
