Iron Fist was one of the only Marvel series on Netflix that wasn't as well-received as the rest. There were a number of complaints surrounding the performance of Finn Jones as Danny Rand, but despite these issues, the series ran for two seasons.

The second and final season of the Netflix series was dropped in its entirety on the streaming network on September 7, 2018, and it ended with a sort of cliffhanger, which made it seem as if there was more of a story to tell. Unfortunately, the story ended there, and there was no follow-up explanation for the events depicted in the final scene of the show.

Iron Fist received its cancelation on October 19, 2019, which was the same day Netflix premiered the third season of Daredevil. The news of the cancelation surprised a lot of fans, as there was no indication Netflix might cancel and of the Defenders' series.

Since the cancelation fell on October 19th, the agreement between Disney and Netflix means the characters of Iron Fist and those associated with him, including Misty Knight and others, won't be able to make their way to the MCU via a Disney platform until October 19, 2021.
