5. ... And In The Future

Thor love and thunder gorr the god butcher
Marvel Comics

Though Gorr first met Thor centuries in the past, his fight with the Asgardian would ultimately last for millennia. In the far future, when Thor is the grizzled, grey-haired King of Asgard, he is besieged by the Black Berserkers at the command of the god butcher.

In the present day, Gorr travelled to the hidden world of Chronux, where he killed and manipulated the Time Gods to help him, with the use of more god blood than has ever been spilled, to travel through time. Gorr’s task wasn’t just to kill every god across space, it was to kill every god throughout time.

He travelled into the future and for 900 years held King Thor hostage in his own home. Asgard died around him, as did the gods. All that remained was Thor, who was reduced to begging the god butcher for death.

Thanks to Gorr never ever forgetting how he was nearly killed by the Odinson back in 893 AD, instead of giving Thor the release of death, he ensured his Berserkers never allowed this particular god to die. This was far greater of a punishment, reliving, lamenting, and regretting past actions and memories, than death ever could be.
