Thor: Ragnarok Reviews - 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know
6. Heimdall & Doctor Strange Are Totally Wasted (And Sif Isn't In It)
"The mighty Idris Elba seems to be phoning it in as Heimdall, a noble character thanklessly saddled here with the weight of carrying the hero’s load in Asgard while the God of Thunder is off galavanting with Hulk. And as revealed in the end credits of Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Master of the Mystic Arts also makes an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok. But as much as I love the character of Doctor Strange, I suspect I won’t be alone in forgetting that he was even in this film a few months from now." - IGN
"Thor: Ragnarok gets its female characters right this time in a way that the previous Thor movies never did (although we do miss Jaimie Alexander’s terrific Lady Sif, who’s curiously absent here)." - Den of Geek
It's pretty telling that most critics didn't even mention the fact that Heimdall and Doctor Strange appear in this film, though the few who did largely dismissed their appearances as little more than inconsequential cameos that don't really add much.
More surprising, though, was the total exclusion of Jaimie Alexander's Sif. While scheduling issues were said to prevent her from having a substantial part, Alexander hinted very explicitly on Twitter that she would have a small role, yet this in fact hasn't come to pass.
What a shame, considering how much promise the character has, and how thoroughly she's been squandered in all three Thor movies to date.
