17. Tom Wilkinson - The Lone Ranger

The career of Tom Wilkinson was incredibly varied and wonderfully displayed the range of the man, from his breakthrough as Gerald in The Full Monty, to receiving two Oscar nominations in both 2001 and 2007 (for In The Bedroom and Michael Clayton respectively), and playing villains in the likes of Rush Hour and Batman Begins.

Though appearing as a supporting character in the latter, it was his larger role, again as an antagonist, in The Lone Ranger that put the actor off appearing in any more big budget Hollywood blockbusters.

Though the Englishman worked a lot in America, his boredom, for lack of a better word, with the political and cultural climate in the States prevented him from ever considering it a second home. After working in such an uncomfortable environment away from England and his family life for such a long period of time, Wilkinson made the decision to avoid such projects in the future.
