Top 20 James Bond Moments

9. Bond Gets Poisoned (Casino Royale, 2006)

http://youtu.be/_yNntwSjOwo Bond is always in some kind of peril in these films and yet it's rare that we're actually scared for him. But in "Casino Royale," when the villain Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) poisons Bond during a poker game, it's a genuinely terrifying and intense sequence, one of the many in this film that shows Bond to be very human and vulnerable. He needs the defibrillator in his car but passes out before he can use it. I love this sequence because it's all about the process of trying to save your life while you're on the verge of dying. Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), the treasury agent assigned to work with Bond, is the one who ends up saving him, to which he asks "Are you okay?" "Am I okay?" she can only ask in shock. Bond then thanks her and is ready to get back in the game. It's a nice way to relieve the tension as well as show how determined Bond is to get the mission done. It also ties in to the theme of Bond owing his life to Vesper, both metaphorically and literally.
