It's clear that the world is in a vastly different state in The Last Knight than it was in Age Of Extinction. There seems to be all out war between the Autobots, Decepticons and humans, with perhaps some human-developed drone/mech technology thrown into the mix for good measure.
With Optimus having failed to take on the Creators and the world in absolute anarchy, a bunch of time has presumably passed between the two films. But the most obvious way this is evinced is through...you guessed it (except you probably didn't)...Mark Wahlberg's hair.
Hey, Marky Mark has long hair now. If you can't depict character maturity through writing or acting, just add a couple extra inches to their locks. The stakes have never been higher!
