20 Upcoming Movie Sequels You Had No Idea About
10. Road House: Dylan
You might know that a sequel to 2024's Doug Liman-directed Road House remake has already been shot, with Jake Gyllenhaal reprising his role of protagonist Dalton.
Yet Liman opted not to return, seemingly due to his falling out with Amazon during post-production on the first film, where he criticised the streamer for not giving it a theatrical release, even threatening to boycott the film's premiere but ultimately attending.
But rather than simply move on from the IP, Liman rather puzzingly acquired the rights to a sequel to the original Patrick Swayze-starring 1989 film, purchasing a script from original screenwriter R. Lance Hill.
The film, Road House: Dylan, was announced late last year, and will effectively be competing with the remake's sequel, which is of course far further ahead in production.
Ultimately it wouldn't surprise anyone if Liman's legacy sequel doesn't ever get made, especially with legal questions surrounding Hill's stake in the IP still up in the air, but Liman is pressing forward with it regardless.
