3. Wind River: The Next Chapter
Taylor Sheridan's 2017 film Wind River was a terrifically crafted thriller which absolutely felt like it said everything it needed to say within the confines of that one movie.
But you probably had no idea that a mostly standalone follow-up, Wind River: The Next Chapter, was shot in early 2023 and has been stuck in post-production limbo ever since.
The sequel, directed by Kari Skogland (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), focuses on Martin Sensmeier and Gil Birmingham's supporting characters from the first film, as they help the FBI to solve a series of ritualistic murders.
The new ensemble cast includes the likes of Jason Clarke, Scott Eastwood, Alan Ruck, and Kali Reis, and the last update on the film came from Clarke late last year, who believed the film was ready to release soon.
Yet close to a year later, we still haven't seen any sign of it, and without the presence of original stars Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, would it surprise anyone if this got quietly dumped on streaming sometime in the next year or two?
