3. The Alien Origin

It's not on screen for a long time, by any means, but it looks like we're going to get a good look at how the Venom symbiote comes to Earth in the opening act. It seems that will either involve a crash event in the present day or the discovery of an old crash site by the government, and that's definitely the right way to start this.

Though it's going to be about how Eddie Brock becomes Venom, the film also has to be a strong origin story for the symbiote itself and taking the traditional monster/invasion movie angle will serve it well. Hopefully, the fact that we don't see Venom in this trailer means Sony will be taking a lead from films like Alien and Predator where we don't see much of the monster in the first act at all and it's all played for suspense.

Getting that from this trailer might be an over-reach in some eyes, but putting together the crash site shots with the hint of a dead first victim and it does seem to fit.
