What Next For The MCU After Avengers: Endgame?
3. No More Avengers?
After four hugely successful Avengers outings, all of which rank among the ten highest-earning movies ever, is it time for The Avengers to disappear for good?
Endgame certainly hinted at it. Founding members Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow are all gone (although the latter is still getting a solo movie), Hawkeye is moving to the small screen with his own Disney+ show, and Thor has ventured off into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy. In terms of the original members at least, it seems that Earth's Mightiest Heroes are officially done.
With Endgame tying up a decade's worth of storytelling in relatively satisfying fashion and inching closer to Avatar's record box office total, now seems like the perfect time to let the Avengers ride off into the sunset. The MCU's roster is strong enough that the shared universe arguably no longer needs these huge team-up movies to thrive, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are popular enough to give fans a helping of squad-based shenanigans.
Besides, there are other teams that Marvel Studios are now able to bring into the fold...
