Wonder Woman: 10 Major DCEU Problems It Fixed
7. Truly Memorable Action Sequences
Quite possibly one of the biggest disappointments of all the DCEU films thus far was that almost none of the action scenes in any of them had any sort of original identity.
The action in Man of Steel often amounted to little more than exploding buildings, those in Suicide Squad to impersonal battles against disposable enemies, and while those in Batman v Superman tried to be truly epic, they ultimately just blur together as one big mess.
Within the opening minutes of Wonder Woman, however, the beautifully choreographed Amazonian sparring sessions showed us that we were in for something special and the rest of the movie did not disappoint. Each action scene has its own distinct flavor, which not only make them incredibly memorable, but also set them apart. Crucially, they also created moments of genuine tension, in addition to help show rather than tell a lot about the characters who are taking part.
From the Amazons fighting tooth and nail against the German army on the beach of Themyscira with fundamentally inferior weaponry, yet still managing to hold their own; to Diana fearlessly charging through no man's land in a scene that would make any history savant grip their seat in suspense; to Diana's friends aiding her in taking out the sniper in the bell tower, every single action scene was executed wonderfully and set a standard in the process.
