It's hard not to feel sorry for Gal Gadot. Ever since being cast, she's been torn apart by comic fans for not being big (or busty) enough to play Wonder Woman in their eyes, while her association with the divisive Fast & Furious franchise has done the actress no favours. Whatever faults some may find with Zack Snyder though, he has a great eye for casting. That's evident in everything from 300 to Watchmen and Man of Steel, and Gadot must have really impressed both him and the studio to land a role as important as Wonder Woman. The former Miss Israel is strikingly beautiful and has the right sort of exotic look to convincingly portray a superhero who is an Amazon. In other words, any old American actress just wouldnt have cut it if theyre staying faithful to Wonder Womans comic roots. Gadot is not really any more or less experienced than Henry Cavill when he was chosen to play Superman, and to dismiss her so soon would be a huge mistake. When Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker, fans were borderline hysterical, and yet his take on the iconic villain is now considered to be one of the greatest ever portrayals of a comic book character. With rumours pointing to Wonder Woman having a key role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it won't really be until then that fans will know whether or not Gadot can deliver. However, the signs are all pointing to her being one of the best parts of that movie...
