X-Men: Apocalypse - 9 Reasons To Be Excited

It didn't look good for 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise there for a while after Bryan Singer's second movie back in 2003. When the director left to make Superman Returns, the third instalment was helmed by Brett Ratner, and though it's probably not quite a bad as its reputation suggests it certainly marked a pretty major dip in quality.

Credit must be given to Matthew Vaughn for giving things a burst of fresh energy with First Class, but many would argue that things didn't really get back on track until Bryan Singer returned with X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Now, Singer is promising the "true birth of the X-Men" with next year's Apocalypse, and it's shaping up to be something very special indeed.

Some of today's most talented young thesps will bring life to fan-favourite characters we haven't seen in a long time - and arguably never seen done justice to; an iconic villain will finally get the big-screen treatment as played by an acclaimed, award winning actor; and for the first time ever we will have all (well, maybe all but one) of the original team of X-Men from the comics  together on the same roster.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Let's take a look at 9 reasons why fans should be more excited for X-Men: Apocalypse than for any other mutant-movie that's come before...

9. Professor X Will Finally Go Bald

Okay, so a bald Charlie Xavier isn't a huge deal in that it doesn't have any bearing on the plot - but fans have been waiting to see James McAvoy sporting the character's iconic comic look for a few years now so it'll be nice to finally have him chrome-domed.

In the comics Xavier's powers caused his hair to fall out as a teenager, but obviously they took a different approach with the younger version of the mutant leader in X-Men: First Class, and McAvoy has sported a full head of  hair for the last two films.

So why finally lose the locks for X-Men: Apocalypse? It's possible that Xavier deciding to stop suppressing his abilities and return to the chair in Days Of Future Past will result in a boost in his power, which could be used to explain his late hair loss.

That or just plain old male pattern baldness - this instalment is set 10 years after the last one after all.
