X-Men: Fear The Beast - 8 Biggest Takeaways From The Abandoned Movie Script
6. Hank Has Developed A Powerful Anti-Mutation Serum
In X-Men: Days Of Future Past, we learn that Xavier has been taking a serum that's intended to help him walk again - the only downside being that it costs him his powers. In that same film, Hank states that he also takes a similar serum, one that helps him control his monstrous mutation and keep himself balanced.
In Fear The Beast, Hank has perfected this serum and made it even more potent. Here, all he has to do is inject himself with it, and he'll transform into his normal human form within a matter of seconds. There are no negative side effects, and the transformation seems pain-free: Hank has essentially developed a way for mutants to offload their powers for as long as they need to (or at least, his powers - it's unclear if the serum would work for everyone).
We also learn that Hank has been sharing this serum with a man named Dr. Paul Cartier - who suffers from a similar beastly mutation - to try and help him manage his own condition. Later in the story, it's revealed that Cartier has reverse-engineered the serum so that it activates mutations, instead of deactivating them. And that choice has disastrous consequences...
