X-Men: 9 Things That Must Happen In The Next Film

5. The X-Men Need To Feel Like A Team

X Men Sequel
20th Century Fox

X-Men: a team of mutants battling it out against a superpowered villain. At least, that's what it should be.

X-Men First Class told the story of how these mutants found each other and came to be friends, banding together against a common enemy to keep the world safe. In Days Of Future Past, however, the mutants aren't just split up for much of the main narrative, they also span two different time lines.

Fair enough, Bryan Singer wanted to try and tweak the original trilogy a bit, but then, again, in Apocalypse the team is once again fragmented at the start, with Magneto living alone, Raven hanging out in Germany and half the team ending up in Stryker's prison.

The end of each film seems to promise the X-Men are finally a team, only for the sequel to revert back to normal. It's time to actually deliver on that promise. The next film should begin with the gang together, giving the overall narrative arc a sense of progression and forcing the writers to come up with new and interesting places to take the story.
