10 Absurdly Hard DLC Modes You Never Beat
7. Dunwall City Trials - Dishonored
Dunwall City Trials is designed to push Dishonored players to their limits, asking them to utilise the best of their combat, stealth, traversal and detective skills. Strictly speaking the challenges are fun to play… or, rather, they would be if not for the associated achievements.
In fact this DLC received a decent bit of pushback from fans, with the Steam rating sitting at a middling 5/10. Those who played the base game for the narrative beats were disappointed by a lack of meaningful depth to the City Trials but more than anything people were put off by the RNG-heavy nature of it all.
Daredevil asks players to land hidden tricky jumps on a map whilst also hitting checkpoints under a tight time limit. Headhunter requires them to finish a stealth map by headshotting every single enemy. By My Hand Alone is combat focused and only unlocks if the player kills every enemy in every wave of the onslaught, which is harder than it sounds as some enemies can attack each other - meaning that weaker opponents can easily be destroyed by tougher ones if players don’t get there first.
Where Dishonored typically relies so much on player agency when it comes to approaching situations, Dunwall City Trials is RNG hell where only blind luck will see you through to the end.
