10 Additions We'd Like To See In Total War: Three Kingdoms

1. Liu Yan & Shi Xie As Playable Factions

Liu Yan is the elderly gentleman in the far west of the map, inhabiting the area traditionally associated with Liu Bei's domain of Shu-Han. The guy who – unless you're playing as Gong Du or Ma Teng - is probably very dead by the time you meet his faction in the game? Likewise, Shi Xie runs the very southern-most portion of the map and seems to have about a 50/50 chance of either accomplishing nothing or going hog-wild in the mostly abandoned south.

Basically, there's an utter lack of play on the south and west side of the map. Liu Yan, no doubt quickly replaced by his son Liu Zhang, would be an interesting addition and throwing Shi Xie in there would certainly improve the Vietnamese market I'm sure. Shi Xie's lands, of course, are traditionally inhabited by the ancestors of modern-day Vietnam.

One could take the Yi Archers and Yi Marksmen away from Liu Bei's faction and give them to Liu Yan's faction. Perhaps replace Liu Bei's special unit with an elite-level peasant unit, since his whole backstory is about raising an army of peasant volunteers and he rarely makes it anywhere near Yi?

Shi Xie could be given an elite unit of Elephant Cavalry, given that the rebels that Shi Xie and his ilk had to deal with were said to have used elephant mounted cavalry against the Han armies. It would give some unique faction features to an otherwise boring NPC group in the game.
