10 Additions We'd Like To See In Total War: Three Kingdoms
2. Change The Corruption Reduction Formulas
We mentioned before what the Corruption attribute is and how it works – but there's an added level of deception to it. You see, there are several things in the game that affect corruption, from a book that lowers corruption by 5% to a reform that lowers it by 8%.
The problem is added confusion to the system as the percentage isn't a straight effect. You see, if your corruption is at 35% and you equip the 'lowers corruption by 5%' book, you go down to 33% corruption. If you have 70% corruption and get the -8% corruption reform you will have 64% corruption, not 62%. This is because the game is lowering corruption by a percentage of the number, not by a set amount. So -8% against 70% is not a reduction by 8 points, it is a reduction by 8% of 70, which is only 5.6.
Things could be so much simpler and more player-friendly if the corruption reduction factors were straight point values. So if you had 70% corruption and assigned an Administrator (-30% corruption), had the -5% book equipped, and learned the -8% reform that commandery would go down to 27%. Instead the game currently reduces it to closer to 40%. You've got to constantly run extra numbers while trying to figure out what kind of corruption you're dealing with – and it certainly doesn't help that corruption has no transparency about how much it will raise or lower by taking or giving away a settlement.
