Resident Evil's resurgence since the series' seventh mainline instalment is a welcome addition to a somewhat ailing slate of survival horror games. Capcom's crowning scary series once again sits atop its genre, and with the recent remakes of PlayStation One classics Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, veteran fans of the franchise were rewarded with some glorious alternate costumes.

Harkening back to the 1998 original, these classic outfits will please those who cut their survival horror teeth on the very first PlayStation. Blocky textures, and ugly facial expressions are aplenty, but the characters in all their polygonal glory is a delightful reference to the franchise's humble beginnings.

The costumes are likely not to be worn during the game's first playthrough, as they break the tension, and presentation of the 2019 release. However, with the game's high replay value, the classic costumes will be too enticing to pass up on subsequent playthroughs if the player looks back at the original title with more than a pinch of nostalgia.

Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy are faced with very serious obstacles to overcome in Resident Evil 2 Remake, but switching to their classic costumes is sure to lighten the mood.
