7. Chrono Cross

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=923fVDDwaHo It's difficult to imagine the gaming world without the Chrono series. The fan favourite saga has become nearly mythic, despite only having two main entries. Its rabid fanbase only wants one thing; a new adventure set within the universe and its unique time-travel mechanics. But before cries of "More Chrono!" came what many believe to be the seminal adventure in the series. Chrono Cross launched in August of 2000, and even if you weren't ready to get this thing going, the intro would make sure that you were. Set to the ridiculously entertaining score composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, the opening of Chrono Cross is a rousing trip into a land of adventure and excitement. A lot of games released during this era rarely had voice overs, or were severely limited, but teams like this never needed them. Their stories were bigger than that, and Chrono was no different. Instead they relied on the characters, the music and the visuals. They cooked them together in a perfect mix, giving it a feeling of very pure delivery. Within the first two-three minutes of booting up Chrono Cross, you're instantly transported into a world you've never seen before. A lot of games from this era would pull you in, allowing you to revel in the magical fantasies they were creating.
