One of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful games of last year or really any year, Neva is the latest effort from Gris developer Nomada Studio.
This stunning puzzle-platformer casts players in the role of Alba, a young woman who is accompanied by the titular wolf companion as they attempt to free their world from corrupting dark forces.
While its story is strictly minimalist, Nomada Studio has nevertheless done a fantastic job wringing tremendous emotion out of a seemingly threadbare setup, largely due to the moving dynamic between Alba and Neva, and the game's blistering fusion of sumptuous art direction and an incredible musical score from Berlinist.
None of the platforming or combat is likely to offer too much of a challenge for seasoned players, but that's not the point - this is a mood exercise to be felt in every fiber of your being over all of its three hours, and in that respect Neva is an unqualified homerun.
