10 Amazing Video Game Characters That Were Killed Off Way Too Quickly
5. Shinjiro Aragaki - Persona 3
Shinjiro Aragaki is a recurring character from the Persona series, best known for his brief and quite disappointing appearance in Persona 3.
Now, don't get it twisted. Shinjiro is a great character with a deep personality and a pretty fascinating backstory. It's just that you don't get to see a lot of him because the writers kill him off right after he joins your party, and they do it in the most forced and ungratifying way possible.
Shinjiro dies, sacrificing himself for Ken, who believes Shinjiro to be responsible for his mother's death. His death is certainly noble, but many players thought it felt flat and ruined a promising character arc because everything about it is completely illogical.
First off, the fact the attack that takes Shinjiro's life catches the SEES members by surprise feels forced, as they are always shown checking dates and preparing for when another strike occurs. Secondly, the game fails to acknowledge your party's healer during Shinjiro's death, at least by explaining why she can't mend his wounds.
Overall, it feels like the game forces this situation on you, which really takes away from the suspense of his sacrifice and makes you feel like the character died too quickly.
