10 Amazing Video Game Villains Hiding In Terrible Games
3. The Lizard - Spider-Man 3
It's one of the great 'what ifs' of cinema's history.
Sam Raimi had been lining up the introduction of Curt Connors as The Lizard through numerous little hints since the very first entry in his trilogy. One of Spider-Man's most famous foes would ultimately never get to appear in the cancelled Spider-Man 4, however, players were able to encounter him in the video game for Spider-Man 3.
The Lizard is introduced when Peter investigates the disappearance of Connors, stumbling across his research facility in the sewers where he has been turning people into other lizard beings. After being eventually tracked down and defeated, Connors is given a nice little redemption arc where he is able to cure those he's experimented on.
The Raimi trilogy has a legion's worth of hardcore fans, and the ability to Tobey Maguire squaring up against such a legendary character. It also provides the game with one of its best bosses, with the visuals and atmosphere of the sewage system being far better than those above the surface.
And it's a good thing The Lizard is so good in Spider-Man 3, because hardly anything else is.
Already running off a pretty hit-or-miss film, Spider-Man 3 suffers from an abundance of glitches, boring gameplay and meme-worthy quick-time events that are far more entertaining when they're failed.
