There’s a rhyme and reason to the game development process. Game gets announced, we get excited, game gets developed, game goes gold, game comes out, we get to play said game and everybody’s happy.

But that’s not always the way it goes.

No matter how great a game sounds from the outset or how massive the studio making it may be, sometimes things just don’t pan out and for one reason or another the game never makes it to market. If we’re lucky it’s just a delay or four, but sometimes even the most promising game concepts just can’t make it out of development hell.

You won’t find infamous games gone missing like Rockstar’s Agent or StarCraft: Ghost on this list as we’re putting the spotlight on just console and PC games that were due to come out in the last console generation.
