9. Rocket League

For a time, everyone and their grannies were playing driving games; Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, and Burnout to name just a few examples of massively popular and successful franchises.

There's also the huge annual success of the Fifa franchise, which guarantees to be one of the most popular titles of any given year simply by its name.

Then, in 2015, Psyonix did something which no one expected, but everyone wished that they'd thought of first.

Rocket-powered cars. A ball. Two goals. Gravity defying stunts.

Technically a sequel to 2008's Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (yes, that's the actual title), Psyonix listened to the criticisms levelled at Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars and put in the work to refine the game into a successful sequel.

And a success it was, boasting a playerbase roughly 75 million strong.

Taking everything we love about customizing our rides in Need For Speed Underground and adding in the cinematic glory of scoring a goal on Fifa, Rocket League has managed to achieve legendary status without spilling any blood.
