10 Amazing Western Movie Homages In Red Dead Redemption 2

Throughout the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 there are numerous factions for the player to watch out for, such as the local law in the towns and settlements and the bandits and highwaymen of the open country. There are many Western films that could have been used as inspiration for these factions, but it's evident that The Long Riders was used as a template for the Lemoyne Raiders.

The film is based on the true story of the James-Younger Gang, who robbed banks, trains and stagecoaches in at least eleven states. After one bank robbery ends in bloody fashion, the Pinkertons are hired to hunt them down. After another bank robbery goes wrong, the Pinkertons capture some members of the gang and recruit them to assassinate one of the leaders of the gang, Jesse James.

Those who have seen the film will notice the similarities between the James-Younger Gang and the Lemoyne Raiders. Both gangs originated from Confederate soldiers who harboured a deep resentment towards the North after the American Civil War. Some of the Lemoyne Raiders will even be dressed the same way as some of the members of the James-Younger Gang.
