Steins;Gate isn't just one of the best video game anime adaptations of all time; it's one of the best anime of all time, period. In fact, it's often easy to forget that this series is even based on a video game, especially as that gaming title is (like Fate/Stay Night) a visual novel.

The series centres around self-professed mad scientist Rintaro Okabe and his colleagues at Future Gadget Lab, an "organisation" he founded himself. The story follows as they discover the ability to travel through time and must battle against a secret company to protect their creation and lives.

There's plenty to love about this series, as it manages to juggle a bunch of elements without dropping a single one. It's hilarious thanks to the loveable characters and their interactions, but also very tense due to the dark narrative.
